Founded in 1989, Community Vision (CV) has been dedicated to individual services for people with disabilities. Our mission is to provide services, education, and advocacy to ensure that people with disabilities direct their own lives. We envision a world where people with disabilities are accepted, included, and able to live the lives they choose.

In our 34 years of experience, when people with disabilities are asked what they want most, a place of their own is a top response. CV made the dream of homeownership come true for over 125 people with disabilities from 2000-2015. As housing costs continued to rise, we shifted to stabilizing homeowners, by creating a Home Repair Fund and creating a process for people with disabilities to access independent, affordable housing, resulting in our Housing Access Program. 

This was not easy, as we set out to create a process that did not already exist. A handful of people with disabilities had accessed affordable housing, but we aimed to establish a sustainable, replicable process for getting people with disabilities into independent, affordable housing, amidst the community. This took perseverance and ingenuity to not only understand and navigate the housing process, but to change misperceptions and worldviews of life for people with disabilities. This led to the creation of our Housing Access Program. In the 2.5 years of the program’s existence, we have found 82 people housing, with 27 people moving into their new place in the last year!
